WHAT'S THE SCIENCE?

Hypochlorous acid (HOCl) is a weak acid that occurs naturally in the human body to fight infection. For over a century, before antibiotics, HOCl has been used in the medical field to irrigate 10 and disinfect wounds. HOCl is currently on the list of disinfectants recommended by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency that are effective against SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. HOCl is non-corrosive to surfaces, non-toxic to humans or pets and many times more potent than toxic cleaners and bleaches.

Because SARS-CoV-2 is spread via very small particles, it is important to understand aerosol size as it pertains to safety. Aerosols are particles that are less than 50 um in diameter. Particles of this size can stay in the air for extended periods before settling on hard environmental surfaces or entering the respiratory tract, possibly lasting 14-30 minutes. COVID-19 is an “ultrafine” particle measuring <0.1 um in diameter. The ultrafine particles of COVID-19 allow it to easily enter the bloodstream, target lungs and mucous membranes. HOCl – the active ingredient in BOSSorganix® Disinfectant & Sanitizer – been shown to be effective against SARS-CoV-2 using a concentration of 200 ppm with a one minute wet time.

BOSSorganix® Disinfectant & Sanitizer is used in fine misters and electrostatic spraying devices to ensure a thorough sanitizing process by covering a large area without pooling together. The ultrafine HOCl particles will coat the sides and underside of your target area as long as they’re sprayed in the right direction.
